The Long Version
From tie-dye to fabric sewing.
I’ve been crafting for more than thirty years. The path went tie-dye to macramé to crochet to knitting, and then (the penultimate) to fabric sewing and the art of cosplay.
My day job for twenty-plus years was the mortgage industry: meticulous, paper-heavy work that taught me to read fine print, hold complicated specs in my head, and respect a deadline. My degree, though, is a Bachelor’s in fiction writing. Both show up at the cutting table: the patience of one, the storytelling instinct of the other.
Every piece I make is one of one. Drafted, fit, basted, ripped out, refit, finished by hand. If you’re after something built to last (something fun and eye-catching) that’s the kind of work I want to do.
Six disciplines, learned in turn.
Each one taught me something the next one needed. Thought. Patience. How to look at fabric and see what wants to happen.

Tie-Dye
First fold, first bind, first surprise when the rubber bands come off. Where most fibre journeys begin, mine included.

Macramé
Knot work. The first craft that made me think about tension as a design tool, not a problem to solve.

Crochet
One hook, one strand, infinite stitches. Where I learned to read a chart in my head and predict shape before drape.

Knitting
Two needles, even tension, the patience to undo half a row in service of the whole. Knitting is where I learned that finishing isn’t optional.

Fabric Sewing
The big shift. Drafting, fitting, basting. Where every other skill I’d learned suddenly had somewhere to live.

Cosplay
The penultimate. Every prior craft, brought to bear on one character, one season, one stitch at a time.
