It’s been a week since I started my YouTube channel. The Sewing Basics video has gotten a bunch of views, and the Pirate coat video had about 10 before I received some helpful feedback. Rather than leave that version up, I deleted it and uploaded a new one. So if you didn’t watch the first version, now’s your chance to check out the second one!

Let me know what you think about the music. That was one of the reasons I re-did the Pirate video: I was told the music throughout made it feel too busy. I do have a bunch of videos already set and ready to go, and I don’t think I’m going to go back and modify them unless the feedback is overwhelmingly that the music throughout isn’t working. If that happens, I’ll definitely revisit the others. Going forward, I may also use less music throughout each video.

If you watch the updated Pirate coat video, I’d especially love to know whether the music feels distracting or if it adds the right amount of background ambience.

I like having the music in there for ambience, but I understand that it might be a little too much for just watching the video. 

I’ve also been discovering things along the way just on my own.  And it kind of brings me back to what I used to do at my previous job.  When you start on a project, you’re constantly learning new things.  About the subject and yourself.  And I find that fascinating. 

When I started this journey, I had a couple of videos in progress. As I learned how to use the CapCut app, I started finding new ways to use effects, fonts, and transitions. I don’t use nearly as many transitions anymore, except for final images, but I have branched out with effects for text boxes. My overall editing process has changed too. I’m sure there are many more effects I’ll discover along the way, and I love seeing how much I’ve already grown on my own. I’m excited to see how much more I’ll grow with feedback from you, dear reader, and from my YouTube watchers!

I’ve already started a bunch of new projects, including recording for them. I’ve also scheduled several videos, and some of them have coordinating blog posts. So make sure you stay subscribed, and keep an eye out for what’s coming next!
