Over the past few months, as I’ve been working on videos for my YouTube Channel, and trying to get my business off the ground, I’ve been in a complete vacuum.
I haven’t been going out to visit with friends hardly. I went out once in June, once in July, and so far, once in September.
Sure, I do still go to my sisters every week (usually), and my mom’s (also usually), and then I have still been getting Reiki. So, it’s not like I’m completely isolated. I’m just not driving great distances any more to see my friends. And while that makes me sad in a lot of ways, it helped me focus on creating this new world for myself.
I’ve been having tons of ideas of how to get better. What ways I can make my videos better. Even when I’m making items for those videos, how can I make those better. As well as I need to start really making some product and I need to start putting some focus on that, I know I’ll be looking at ways to improve that too.
But I keep coming up with ideas! It’s so wonderful. New ideas for shorts, new ideas for products to sell, new ideas for long-form videos.
It reminds me of when I was in high school and I was coming up with story ideas all the time. Or writing tons of poetry. And then in college, it was very similar. I was just in this constant state of creativity, and it felt amazing.
You know what killed it? Going to work at a corporation.
Sure, I would still have ideas occasionally and they would be good. And I would try to use some of that creativity at work to come up with ways of making things better there and I would (the majority of the time) be shot down. And so, I stopped being creative. I stopped writing. If my ideas weren’t good enough at a corporate bank, would they be good enough anywhere else? It wasn’t even a conscious thought. I just stopped.
I’m so thankful for my friend and Reiki master, Bethanny. It was really because of her that I have been able to get back to myself. She helped me understand who I am again and inspired me in so many ways for how she lives. She showed me it’s possible to do what you love and be happy.
Please check her website out too! She does Reiki, in-person and virtual, as well as Tarot Readings, which can also be in-person or recorded. blisswitchwellness.com.
I now think that the entire reason I started working at that bank was to meet her. I’m not sure we would’ve met otherwise. She’s also one of the few friends I remain in contact with over a long period of time. (I still consider people my friends whom I haven’t spoken to in years by the way, so if you’re one of those don’t think we’re not friends!). And not just because she’s helped me, but I like to think I’ve helped her too. We make each other grow and that’s what a good friendship does.
In any case, I just was very excited to come to the realization that even though I miss everyone and I miss being that social person, I’m also very excited to be in this creative space. I want to also thank you, dear reader, for being here with me. You’re part of the process too and I couldn’t do it without you.
